Laser hair removal and electrolysis for trans and nonbinary clients — facial and beard work, body hair, and pre-surgical clearing coordinated with your surgeon.

Hair Removal for Trans and Nonbinary Clients

Lily Skincare & Laser Clinic treats trans and nonbinary clients as a matter of course, and hair removal is the treatment we're asked for most. That includes facial and beard hair removal, hair removal anywhere on the body, and pre-surgical clearing for genital and chest surgeries. You won't have to explain what you're here for from first principles, justify the request, or answer questions that have nothing to do with your skin. Tell us the name and pronouns to use when you book and that's what we use — on the phone, in the room, and in our records.

You don't need a letter, a referral, a diagnosis, or proof that you're on hormones to book hair removal. It's a cosmetic treatment, and the only paperwork that ever helps is a surgeon's written hair removal instructions if you're clearing an area before surgery.

Facial and Beard Hair Removal

Estrogen softens body hair over time, but it doesn't undo a beard — the follicles testosterone established stay put, which is why facial hair removal is usually the longest and most important piece of work. Most people need both methods. Laser treats many follicles at once and thins dense, dark beard hair across the whole face quickly, which cuts the total hours substantially. But laser works by targeting pigment, so it can't treat gray, blonde, red, or very fine hair — and after a few rounds of laser, what's left is often exactly that. Electrolysis treats each follicle directly regardless of colour and is the only method the FDA recognises as permanent, so it does the clearing and the finishing.

Facial work is measured in hours, not sessions. A full beard commonly runs well past a hundred hours of electrolysis spread across one to two years, because only follicles in their active growth phase respond to any given pass, and the rest have to be caught on a later one. Density, hair colour, how many years you shaved, and whether you start with laser all move that number a lot. We'd rather estimate it in front of your actual face at a free consultation than guess at it over the phone.

Pre-Surgical Hair Removal

If you have surgery scheduled, your surgeon decides the map and the deadline, and we work to it. Bring their written hair removal instructions to your consultation. For vaginoplasty that means clearing the genital donor area; for phalloplasty it's the forearm or thigh donor site; chest and other procedures have their own requirements. Surgeons generally require electrolysis rather than laser for this, because the skin being used has to be permanently free of follicles rather than reduced — a follicle that survives can grow hair somewhere it can't be reached afterwards.

Start early. Most people need six to twelve months of regular sessions to clear a donor area on schedule, and surgeons typically want it finished with some margin before your date rather than the week of. If your surgery date is already close, come in anyway and we'll tell you honestly what's achievable in the time available instead of booking you into a plan that can't finish.
